It is hard to stay positive. Just thinking about everything that has to get done everyday is exhausting, not to mention that it stresses me out, and makes my blood pressure rise. how can moms stay positive through the busyness of life?
Focus on serving the needs of others.
I admit that there are times throughout the day, when it is inconvenient to hear, Mama…Mama…Mama…Mama…every time one of my children walks into the room. Oftentimes, frustration sets in when my kids don’t respect my work, or my attempt to finish a 30-second phone call with someone. Yet, the alternative to not hearing my kids call my name would be heart wrenching and devastating. I realize that when my children call my name, it is because they need me. To be needed is one of the most amazing feelings and serving others renews my soul. When my soul is renewed, my mind is renewed and I can stay positive, even through the interruptions.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
Accept that plans will get derailed.
Do you remember the days (maybe you’re still living them), when your child, or grand baby would have the biggest bowel movement in the most inconvenient place? I still remember like it was yesterday when it happened to me. Our 2-year old decided to have the nastiest diarrhea diaper ever as we were leaving the grocery store! Ugh, I wanted to vomit right there! and when I got to the car to change him, I did not have a diaper bag. There was no one to blame except myself, because I forgot to put the diaper bag back in my car.

So after I cursed a few times, and took a few deep breaths, I found a stash of wipes in the pocket behind the driver’s seat. Miraculously, nothing escaped the diaper. now what do I do? instead of soiling his nice church clothes, our son sat bare-bottomed on a bag in his car seat all the way home. My family thought it was hysterical, and I broke down in tears. My bare-bottomed baby broke my spirit and exposed my mental exhaustion.
Maybe you feel this way right now. even the best plan can (and probably will) get derailed, so instead of being disappointed with the outcome, embrace the opportunity to laugh at the situation and have a positive attitude.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Find peace in being a Mom!
Instead of feeling overwhelmed, disappointed, or sad, celebrate your child’s milestones, achievements and every day conversations. fill your heart with fond memories, awesome adventures and give grace to your child. count your blessings and shed a few tears when you hug your child, regardless if they are little or big, because they belong to you. embrace the busyness of being a mom as an opportunity to guide, encourage, praise and nurture your child.
“The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11
Hopefully you can stay positive through the busyness of life by serving the needs of others, accepting plans will get derailed and finding peace in being a Mom.
